Sunflower Mural
History
The Sunflower Mural was completed in October 2018 followed by a mural dedication and ribbon cutting on March 21, 2019. Curtis Stubbs donated the wall at 526 E 6th St., Newton, Kansas,
The mural was possible because of private donations, a grant from Volunteer Kansas, and funds from Newton Rotary. Leroy Koehn donated the painting of the base coat of the mural and Regier Construction donated the lift for several weeks.
The Sunflower Mural at 526 N Main, Newton, was created in the Fall of 2018 by a high school art teacher, Raymond Olias, his students, and other volunteers in the community using art donated by Artist Virgil Penner. Working around the busy schedules of the students, the mural took six weeks to complete.
